Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the World

As the Falmouth Garden Club kicks off the 90 th anniversary of our founding, it’s only fitting to learn more about one of the most influential women of the times, Eleanor Roosevelt. 

The longest-serving First Lady of the United States, she was the first presidential spouse to hold press conferences, write a syndicated newspaper column, and speak at a national convention. She also planted the first Victory Garden at the White House and has a rose named for her.
